Michael Averill, based in Kelowna, BC, is an adventurous Canadian troubadour who lives for great stories, and loves a good stroll.
He literally walked over 4000 miles of Canada through an 8 year tour called “I’d Rather Walk,” sharing his and his late father’s music along the way.
Michael loves nothing more than bringing people together with meaningful songs.
He has written tunes with people on trains, planes, boats, and busses.
He has collaborated with villagers in some of the highest mountain ranges in the world, to organising songwriting programs for multi-city/multi-generational community projects.
He has assisted hundreds of artists write 2000+ songs, and takes great pride and care helping folks write heartfelt musical expressions to their loved ones for special occasions.
Michael’s performance versatility ranges from swampy slide blues, to intricate finger-style folk, to hilarious sea shanties about mismatched socks.
He combines buttery guitar licks and philosophical wordplay into a playful blend of silly and sensitive, leaving listeners happily disarmed, deeply touched, and inspired.
